Everyone has something they are an expert at. Maybe you’re a wizard at Excel, you know how to meal prep for $50 a week, or you’ve mastered the art of training puppies.
Whatever your skill is, there is an audience willing to pay to learn it.
The problem? Most people get stuck in "creation paralysis." They spend months worrying about camera gear, lighting, and perfect scripts. By the time they are ready to record, the excitement is gone.
The truth is, you don’t need six months to build a digital asset. You can build a lucrative online course in just 7 days.
Here is your day-by-day roadmap to going from zero to launch.
Day 1: Niche Down and Validate
Don't create a course on "Marketing." That is too broad. Create a course on "How to get your first 1,000 Instagram followers for Real Estate Agents."
The Golden Rule of Course Creation: A lucrative course solves a specific problem for a specific person.
Action Step: Write down the "A to Z" journey. Where is your student now (Point A: Frustrated/Stuck), and where will they be after the course (Point B: Successful/Relieved)?
Validation: Go to social media or Reddit and search your topic. Are people asking questions about it? If yes, there is a market.
Day 2: The Outline (The Skeleton)
Open a Google Doc. You aren't writing the script yet; you are building the skeleton.
Break the "A to Z" journey into 4–6 modules.
Module 1: Foundation/Mindset
Module 2: The Strategy
Module 3: Implementation
Module 4: Advanced Tips/Scaling
Pro Tip: Keep it lean. People pay for speed, not length. If you can teach them in 2 hours rather than 10, that is actually more valuable.
Day 3: Content Prep
Today is about preparation. If you are doing "talking head" videos, outline your bullet points so you don't ramble. If you are doing screen recordings, build your slide decks now.
Action Step: Create a simple slide deck for each module. Keep text minimal.
Resources: Create any PDFs, checklists, or cheat sheets your students will need. These add massive perceived value to the course.
Day 4: Recording Day (Batching)
Clear your schedule. Today, we record everything.
Audio is King: People will forgive bad lighting, but they will not forgive bad audio. Use a decent USB microphone or even your phone's voice memo app in a quiet room.
Don't be a Perfectionist: If you stumble over a word, pause for a second, clap your hands (to make a spike in the audio file for editing later), and say the sentence again. Do not stop recording.
Day 5: Edit and Host
You don’t need to be a professional video editor. Use simple tools like Camtasia, iMovie, or Descript.
Editing: Cut out the long pauses and the mistakes. Add a simple intro if you have one.
Hosting: Upload your videos.
Free/Low cost options: Gumroad, unlisted YouTube playlist, Google Drive.
Professional options: Teachable, Kajabi, Skool.
Day 6: The Sales Page
You can have the best course in the world, but if the sales page is boring, nobody will buy it.
Your sales page needs three things:
The Hook: "Stop wasting time on..."
The Promise: "In this course, you will learn exactly how to..."
The Guarantee: Remove the risk. Offer a 14 or 30-day money-back guarantee.
Day 7: Launch!
It’s time to push the button.
Email your list: Tell them the story of why you created this.
Social Media: Don't just post "My course is out." Post a testimonial, a sneak peek of a lesson, or share the problem the course solves.
The "Beta" Discount: Since you just launched, offer a "Founding Member" discount for the first 48 hours to create urgency.
Final Thoughts
Perfection is the enemy of profit. Your first course won't be your magnum opus, and that’s okay. The goal of this week is to get your product out there. Once it’s live, you can tweak it, improve it, and raise the price.
